Note: | You must create your knowledge base and your work zones before you can add assets. |
You use the models in your knowledge base as raw material from which to create an inventory of assets for a work zone. You can create asset templates to use across similar work zones, so for example, you can create an asset template for a commercial building that you can then use for all of your commercial building work zones.
Models are generic representations of assets. To create your actual asset inventory, you take a generic model and make it specific.
Assets are arranged in a hierarchical structure with work zones being the top-level asset and individual pieces of hardware and equipment, such as light fixtures and door knobs, being the lowest-level assets. The low-level assets are "nested" within higher-level assets like cubicles, rooms, and suites, which in turn are nested within units, floors, and buildings, which are then nested within a work zone.
These procedures show you how to add assets to a work zone and create a template of that asset structure to use in similar work zones. Use this process when you are first setting up your application instance.
