Search for Materials Using Barcodes (Apple iOS Devices)

If an item is listed in the materials inventory and it has a barcode that has been set up in the system through the Back Office portal, you can scan the code and have the item automatically added as part of a work order. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. Position yourself so that you can easily access the inventory item's barcode.
  2. Open the work order to which you want to add the barcoded item.
  3. On the default Work Order details screen, scroll down and tap the All costs row. Show me

  1. On the All WO Costs screen that appears, tap the Materials row. Show me

  1. On the Find Material screen that opens, tap the Scan barcode button. Show me

The camera on your Apple device is activated automatically.

  1. Focus the camera on the item's barcode and wait a few seconds until you see a thin green rectangle appear on the camera screen around part of the barcode. Shortly after the rectangle appears, you should hear an electronic beep indicating that the barcode has been scanned. Show me

Note: In order for the scanner to work correctly, the camera must be held steady and within 8 inches of the barcode. The camera must also have a clear view of the barcode with no glare or heavy shadows obscuring the clarity of the image.

After the barcode is read, the screen refreshes and displays the product name, location, price, quantity, and total price. Show me

  1. (Optional) Change the price of the scanned item.
  2. (Optional) Change the Quantity field if more than one item is being added to the work order.
  3. Click Save to add the item(s) to the work order.

The updated All WO Costs screen appears with the new item added to the Materials section. Show me
